Axe Throwing FAQs

Our most frequently asked questions

Safety First! Safety at Axeology is our highest priority.  Each participant will be required to sign a waiver and receive a safety brief before throwing any axes.  This is a controlled environment and each person must go through the orientation with the instructor to understand the rules.  Our instructors will be monitoring the lanes to ensure axes are being thrown properly and safely.

You can book a group of 5 at the same time through the book now button on our website.  If your booking is more than 5 you can book 2 lanes separately or message us.  Even better if you have a big group ask us about exclusive hire.

Plenty! We’re based on East Street and there is parking on street, on Queensway and in Eastgate Multi-Storey car park.

Anyone ages 10 years and over can throw with us but must be accompanied by an adult.  Anyone under the age of 18 will also need to be accompanied by an adult.

Sometimes life happens and you need to re-book or cancel a booking.  If your booking is 1 week away get in contact with us and we can try and reschedule the session but once your booking is confirmed unfortunately it isn’t refundable.  Any amendments can only be made by prior agreement with us at our discretion.

No open toe shoes is the main thing and you can probably guess why.  We suggest you remove your hoodie or avoid wearing one when throwing axes.

The session is a total of 60 minutes.  You’ll be given a safety briefing and one of our instructors will take you through the two standard throws.  Then you are free to play and let the challenge commence!

You should aim to arrive 10-15 minutes before your session to get checked in, sign any waivers if not already and receive a verbal safety brief before going with one of our instructors to your lane.

If you are pregnant, then we suggest you do not participate in Axe Throwing.  We understand you might feel that you are safe to throw axes but axe throwing can be quite strenuous and your safety is our priority.

Unfortunately not.  You can’t throw axes if you’ve had a few drinks.   If we believe you are under the influence of alcohol you will not be allowed to take part. You are more than welcome to watch but it’s better you save the alcohol for after.

Not currently, axe throwing and alcohol don’t mix well but we do have alcohol free beer, alcohol free craft IPA and a few other amazing drinks so you still can enjoy the taste and atmosphere.

Possibly, but better you book first just in case.

At our Southampton venue we recommend you park at the East Street multi-storey car park or on Queensway.
